Whether you have made all the reservations or just planning in advance, these are the 6 things you should carry with you on your next Vacation:

6 Things You Should Never Forget When Traveling
  1. Make Copies of Important Documents

As of today, everything related to travel documents is sent via email or saved on a backup drive now, we mustn’t forget the value of hard copies. They’re easy to check by anyone and can help in case the electronic gadget isn’t working at the checking points. Just make a folder of all the relevant travel documents and carry at all times, may be in your purse or carry-on while traveling, and email them to yourself before your trip for added safety. In case you lose your travel documents, the back up in form of hard copies or on email will help pacify the situation.

  • Credit Cards (front and back.)
  • Travel Itinerary
  • Airline Tickets
  • Booking Confirmation (hotel, cruise, car rentals, attraction tickets, etc.)

  1. Having a well-thought out Carry-On

The below list of essentials are petty but if forgotten can cause some serious discomforts during your travel. They should be kept within your arm’s reach as they can be used anytime.

Headphones: Few hotels have very thin walls and noisy planes cause serious discomforts; you should carry a pair of noise-cancelling headphones that can easily plug into your phone or iPod. Another set of earplugs will come handy for sleeping in noisy accommodation or on the plane.

Power Adapter: Sometimes it can turn out to be the most important thing travelers often forget to bring on international trips is a power converter. Research online to see which converter you’ll require for the country you are travelling. Power adapter can work for almost every country and travellers can charge multiple electronic gadgets at once.

Reusable Water Bottle: It should be empty as you pass through security in the airport, carrying a reusable water bottle with a filter will save you precious dollars regardless of where you fly! No need to shell out dollars for bottled water or worrying about catching an illness internationally.

Hand Sanitizer: Carrying your own hand sanitizer protects you from catching unwanted infections while on a trip. Keep a compact set of antibacterial hand wipes and easy to stash in your carry-on.

  1. First aid kit

Another set of critical item which you shouldn’t forget and helps save money on medical expenses while overseas. A couple of bandages, cotton balls, a couple of gauzes and some type of antiseptic will serve to heal a small wound.

Before traveling check if the other country allows you to enter with prescribed medications. If that’s okay, carry some analgesics, laxatives and antidiarrheal and if you have any specific disease, ensure not to leave the treatment at home.

  1. Get Travel Insurance

A blessing in disguise, that can help you cover the cost of lost or stolen personal items, trip cancellations, and even medical emergencies at a nominal cost. Travel Insurance are very effective in the event of an unplanned disruption of your trip. In the same way you insure your home, car, and even phone; travel insurance is required to insure your trip and avoid costly penalties.

Be proactive enough to choose travel insurance, as various insurances cater to specific needs to travelers (low-cost, medical, international travel) so opt for the one that fits your travel style and budget.

  1. Clothing: An independent list

Ensure to carry the essential list of clothing and don’t forget public laundries are omnipresent on the planet. You can find a good laundry in every other corner easily. This will allow you to make some space in your suitcase and wash your clothes in the middle of the trip to proceed further.

Towel and toiletries: A microfiber towel can help save you from bad hotel management and you should never trust the complimentary given. Even a small towel won’t occupy much space in your luggage. Some basic toiletries such as tooth brush, tooth paste, small bottle of shampoo & conditioner, grooming kit can save the blues if not fended for by the hotel.

Hat and sunglasses: It’s on the list of essential things to bring as caps, hats and sunglasses are necessary at all times of the year. The sunshine always makes the travel comfortable but may not be pleasing to the eyes or the head. A hat can keep you warm in the coldest of months and provides relief on hot summer days.

  1. Travel with a Credit Card rather than Cash

Carrying a credit card when you travel can be a bit safer than traveling with cash because if you lose your wallet, you can’t get your cash returned.  But if you lose a credit card on your trip, you can always call your credit card company and lock the card.

If you find any unusual transactions or charges showing up on your credit card bill, you can always dispute them and report your card stolen. With an appropriate credit card, you can truly enjoy your trip with peace of mind knowing you’re protected if something should happen.
